This cozy, plant-filled oasis stole my heart. As a vegetarian, I adored the flavorful tortang talong (eggplant omelette) - perfectly spiced and textured. The turon with creamy ube ice cream was heavenly! Why it's special: Lush greenery creates magical atmosphere Excellent vegetarian-friendly options Impeccable, warm service Already planning my next visit - this hidden gem deserves its glowing reputation!

Wildly delicious! This Filipino fusion restaurant as my friend called it was beautiful inside and everything from the sticky wings with pickled radish and mango, to the adobo pork and pan hit glass noodles and veg, to the ube ice cream affogato was elevated and immaculate.

Wow. Just wow. As a Filipina it was an absolute pleasure to see someone who loves what they do and put that passion into the food. The feel of the restaurant is so much fun, the decor, the plants, the music. We were lucky enough to stop by during restaurant week and we snagged the pre fix menus and boy oh boy was it delectable. We tried so much of the delicious menu. And what stood out was that the food felt LIGHT. Unlike most Filipino food, these dishes had all the flavor without the heaviness of your regular Filipino meals. The soul of our beautiful nation was captured in these amazing dishes. From start to finish Olivia made sure we had everything we needed and kept the food coming. I'm gonna make sure everyone I know hears about this place. Props to Chef Janice and her crew for the wonderful experience and meal that made my face, heart, and tummy smile. :)

Finally got around to try this place & it was oakland restaurant week! They had a prefixe menu that you could choose from which was definitely worth it if you haven't been there so you can try various things! The food was soooo delicious. The jicama salad was the right choice to start with! So fresh & the use of cornick for a crunch was so unexpected! i love the fusion of the shroom & tofu adobo with the hint of coconut! I never tasted anything like it. The sotanghon had GREAT flavors, reminded me of my mom's cooking! Veggie lumpia was so crispy but could use a bit more flavor. The turon didn't have the typical glaze on the outer shell, but the ube ice cream made up for it. As for drinks, palawan sunset was the winner! If you like something light & don't like to taste the alcohol, & it looks so pretty! Feeling myself had a little spice but I enjoyed it :) Golden state of mind was delicious & it had a hint of matcha! The lemonade was ok, i thought it would be calamansi, but still a good drink. The numerous plants and cozy feeling of the restaurant made it feel very homey like you're going to your filipino grandmas house, the open concept of the kitchen made it also very welcoming! The owner/chef, Janice, was also present that evening & made the experience even more fun! Cant wait to come back & try more things especially brunch!!

Came here for the first time last week to celebrate my friend's birthday & it just so happened to be Oakland Restaurant Week! So we were fortunate enough to experience the pre fixe'd menu & we loved EVERYTHING! My friend doesn't eat meat so we got all the vegetarian options. As a Filipino, I love my meat (especially in our traditional dishes) but I think that experiencing the elevated meatless options on the menu was a fantastic way to dive into the flavor profiles & quality of food that the amazing Chef Janice Dulce is cooking up! The shroom & tofu adobo was delicious! The tofu had great texture (not too soft or over cooked) and the base of the adobo itself had a nice blend of what I believe to be coconut milk but it was amazing! I've not had adobo like that & I would order this again! The pancit was PHENOMENAL! It had great chew & texture, but most importantly it was packed with flavor! Considering this had no meat, it was excellent! The veggie lumpia was cooked to perfection. It had such a good crunch on the outside, which was my favorite part. I wasn't in love with the vinegar sauce, I think it could have more depth to the flavor (maybe more fish sauce taste) but that's truly just personal preference. It was very vinegary for my liking but this does not negate from the perfection of the lumpia itself. Turon is one of my all time favorite Filipino desserts & Chef Janice's did not disappoint! It doesn't have the traditional glaze on the outside that most turon's do, but it's topped with powdered sugar & paired with ube ice cream. The ube ice cream is what brings the dessert together & delivers the extra sweetness you're looking for. SO good!! The cocktails are all amazing as well! The Palawan Sunrise & Golden State of Mind are expertly crafted alcoholic beverages! Thank you so much for the delicious food, good vibes, & amazing staff! I'll be coming back to try the brunch menu next! In depth review available on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT27RfKD7/

Came here during Oakland Restaurant Week (ORW) and while the food was good, as a vegetarian it wasn't necessarily worth the visit during this week. I say that because the pre-fixe menu was $45/per person, but the vegetarian items on the menu totaled to a little less than $90 two people (yes, I tried to do the math haha). Now, if you order some of the meat dishes, then I think it's worth it. Now onto the food. I'd definitely come back another time because the food was actually really good. Veggie lumpia- the filling was good, but I think because the lumpia was so big it wasn't as crispy as I would have loved. It was actually a little too oily for me, but the dipping sauce was a great pairing. Eggplant Ensenada- really good. I liked the rice cracker topping, gave it a nice crunchy texture Tofu and shroom adobo - wish it had a little bit more mushrooms, but overall very tasty. Pancit sotanghon- the best part of the meal. Super flavorful. Turon- loved the texture of the lumpia and the banana filling was soo good. Wish the ice cream had a stronger ube flavor, but together was a really good dessert. They also have a homemade spicy thai chili sauce, which was SO good. I almost bought some to go, it was that good. We were seated right away on a Sunday evening and service was good. Parking was farily easy since get have a small parking lot right outside. I would come back.

Eggplant Salad - A refreshing take on ensaladang talong. The acidity from the vinegar and the brightness of fresh tomatoes and onions pairs well with the eggplant. The texture was soft but not mushy, making it a great appetizer. Lumpia - Crispy, golden perfection. The wrapper was light and crunchy, encasing a well-seasoned filling that was juicy and flavorful. Served with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce, it was the perfect balance of crunch and savoriness. Pork Adobo - A rich and deeply comforting dish. The pork was tender, braised to perfection in a garlicky, vinegary, and slightly sweet sauce. Pairs perfectly with garlic rice. Halo-Halo - A fun dessert with a variety of textures and flavors. The crushed ice was finely shaved, blending well with the sweetened beans, jellies, and fruits. The ube ice cream added a rich, nutty sweetness that tied everything together beautifully. The ambiance at FOB Kitchen is warm and inviting, featuring whimsical decor that complements the island-inspired cuisine. The staff is very friendly, and we felt well taken care of. The restaurant has garnered acclaim, earning a Bib Gourmand designation in the 2024 MICHELIN Guide for its quality food at moderate prices.

I've known about this place for a while as they've been featured on social media, newsprints, articles, word-of-mouth, TV shows, YouTube and etc... A few months ago (more like last summer), I took wifey here on a dinner date and didn't tell here where we were going. Funny thing was that as soon as I stepped inside, the bartender was already buttering me up...and it worked. So, I had to order some Red Horse (Philippine malt beer made by San Miguel) to get me started. The chef and owner, Janice Dulce, was busy working and greeting guests from behind and in front of the kitchen. The placed used to be a taqueria as she paid homage by keeping the original sign outside while adding her F.O.B. Kitchen logo. The exterior of the place is vibrant, full of colors and greeneries with vines crawling up the wall. The interior is warm, homey with touches of Philippine artwork. It feels comfortable, and the staff was surely very welcoming. We had the following: Starters/Pulutan - Sticky Wings ($15) coated with Patis (Fish Sauce) Caramel, pickles & cilantro. It was a delightful fried chicken that was well-balanced with tanginess and sweetness. The patis flavor wasn't too overpowering and pleasantly not too salty. It was crispy on the outside and tender inside. Lechon Kawali ($13) thriced cooked pork belly with pickled red onion, Thai chili, soy sauce & lemon. They were crispy but not greasy. The pickled red onion gave it a nice contrast, dipping it in the sauce gave it an umami punch. Of course, the Bartender reminded me to get the "Mang Tomas" sauce as it wouldn't be complete without it. Side Dish/Gulay- Tortang Talong ($13.00 - eggplant omelet, tomato, scallions, soy & banana ketchup dipping sauce (before the ban). Solid dish that was evenly coated with egg that provided a crispy exterior layer mixed with the soft eggplant to give it a nice contrast of texture and flavor. Entrees/Ulam - Sinigang Baboy ($25) tamarind & ginger soup, pork, daikon, bok choy, eggplant, green beans & Thai chili. If you like it sour, this was very sour....in a good way. The sourness comes the tamarind, which is very traditional and definitely did not come in a powder form. It was definitely a strong kick that would clear out your sinuses. The fresh veggies just sapped in all the flavors, and I couldn't stop eating them. Pork Adobo ($20) palm vinegar, soy, garlic, annatto, coconut milk & Thai chili. I have to give this a mix review since the pork was not consistent. There were parts that were dry and parts that were tender. However, their version of adobo was unique as I literally slurping the sauce. It was savory, but it also had sweet notes that reminded me of caramel. I just wished they made a Chicken Adobo version as well as chicken can be easily cooked evenly compared to pork. Dessert/Panghimagas - Turon with Ube Ice Cream (forgot the cost) a nice ending to the dish as the Turon was goldenly fried and the Ube was made with real Ube. It wasn't too sweet, and the ice cream had a great texture of real Ube mixed in. I don't know if they made it inhouse or from a vendor, but I appreciate a good and real Ube when I taste it. Not the fake, purple-colored desserts being appropriated by Trader Joe's. Cold Brew Pandan Coffee ($6). I know, it's not really a dessert, but this was addictively so good that I ordered another and another to go. Now, my only bone to pick with was the side of garlic rice that we ordered. The garlic was nice, but the rice was just way too clumpy. It could've been mixed together more evenly as opposed to getting clumps and chunks that it was almost a cop out. Just my opinion, but they could pay more attention on this one. Don't want to end on a negative note as we truly enjoyed our meal and time here. The service was friendly and professional, especially the Bartender. These were truly some of the best-tasting Filipino dishes we'd have to date, and I know there are other dishes that we wanted to try, but we only have two mouths. They also pay homage to its Oakland roots as evident from the names of the cocktails such as The Town, Blow the Whistle, Feelin' Myself, and Golden State of Mind. Oakland has been getting a bad rap, especially with what happened to their mayor, but it doesn't represent everything about The Town. It's very rich in the diversity in its people and culinary cuisines. There are good people here trying to make it better. Janice Dulce is one of those people. She's a proud Filipina American offering her culture and providing a safe space for people of color with different ethnicities, background and orientation. We must uphold them during these bleak times, and it is what America should be about.

This spot is delicious, fun, beautiful, and queer owned, which is just icing on the cake. My boyfriend took me here and we've gone back several times since. The aesthetic is super fun and interesting. The staff are incredibly kind and are great at offering suggestions on what to order if you're not sure. The first time we went here they had a special with fried chicken on this incredible red hot sauce. The chicken was juicy and tender and super crispy. We also got the lumpia. It was crispy and super tasty. We got the pancit and it was honestly the best pancit I've ever had. The texture, the flavor the freshness it was Chef 's kiss. The spaghetti was so good and not too sweet. It was nice to have pieces of hot dog to curb the sweetness. The fish was crispy and perfectly cooked. It was complimented with a vinegar sauce and the garlic rice which were both excellent. We have gone here 3 times now and look forward to continuing to frequent this restaurant. They also have great cocktails, mocktails and offer catering.
